President Donald Trump announced Monday on Truth Social that he will deliver a primetime address to the nation on Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern, and if the leaks are accurate, this one might be a doozy. As Conservative Brief reported, citing CNBC and MS NOW sources, the speech is expected to involve newly declassified intelligence about a foreign nation's plans to interfere in the 2020 presidential election. Nothing says "must-see TV" quite like a president surrounded by his entire intelligence brain trust dropping classified documents on a Thursday night.

According to the report, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin are all expected to join Trump for the address. That is quite the lineup. You do not assemble four of the top intelligence and security officials in the country for a casual fireside chat about the weather.

The White House has not publicly confirmed the subject of the speech beyond Trump's initial announcement, and the underlying documents have not been made public. A White House task force has reportedly been reviewing thousands of pages of classified intelligence and law enforcement records related to alleged irregularities and foreign influence efforts connected to U.S. elections, with document releases expected in the coming weeks.

Now, some important context here. A 2021 U.S. intelligence community assessment found no evidence that any foreign government altered voting systems, ballots, vote tabulation, or official election results during the 2020 election. That same assessment did conclude that Russia conducted influence operations intended to benefit Trump, Iran carried out influence efforts intended to damage his candidacy, and China thought about doing something but ultimately decided to sit that one out. Classic China, always window shopping.

Whether the newly declassified material provides additional context, reaches different conclusions, or addresses information not previously made public is completely unknown until the documents are actually released. That is the part everyone seems to be glossing over in their excitement. We are currently reacting to unnamed officials describing documents that nobody outside the administration has seen yet.

Trump has consistently maintained that the 2020 election was tainted by widespread fraud and irregularities, despite numerous court rulings rejecting challenges to the results. He has also pushed Congress to pass the SAVE Act, which would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.

If the administration does release new intelligence Thursday night, it would represent one of the most significant public disclosures related to the 2020 election since Trump returned to office. Lawmakers, intelligence officials, election experts, and approximately 150 million people on social media will all have opinions within roughly four seconds of the first document hitting the internet.

Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern. Set your DVRs, charge your phones, and maybe stock up on snacks. This could be a long night.
