Hillary Clinton Ally Torches His Own Party's Socialist Wing

There is nothing quite like watching a lifelong Democratic strategist look at his own party and say out loud what everyone else has been thinking. Al Mottur, a longtime Hillary Clinton advisor and fundraising bundler, has decided he has had enough of the socialist wing taking over Democratic primaries, and he is not being subtle about it.

As Trending Politics reported, Mottur told MS-NOW that his party desperately needs centrist candidates if it wants to win nationally. "We need centrists to win nationally," he said, which is the political equivalent of telling someone they need oxygen to breathe. He also predicted that the extreme positions coming out of recent primaries will get steamrolled in a general election. "I think that some of these positions are so extreme that they will be rejected when we head to a national climate, which is what 2028 will be," he added.

But the real headline grabber was Mottur's assessment shared by RNC Research on social media: "They don't love America. If we have people in our party who are so far left that they are saying we don't want to protect people from crime, well that's just absurd."

So what sparked this meltdown? A wave of Democratic Socialists of America candidates winning primaries in the 2026 cycle. Melat Kiros, 29, knocked off longtime Representative Diana DeGette in Colorado's 1st Congressional District. Darializa Avila Chevalier, 32, ousted Representative Adriano Espaillat in New York's 13th District. Claire Valdez, Mark Lander, and Chris Rabb all toppled incumbent Democrats in deep blue districts as well.

Now here is where it gets spicy. Kiros has argued that America essentially deserved the September 11 attacks. Chevalier reportedly bragged about using the American flag as a napkin. All of the aforementioned candidates have endorsed policies like mass amnesty, abolishing ICE, and massive tax increases. You know, the kind of platform that really plays well at a Fourth of July barbecue.

Mottur also made an interesting observation about voter behavior. He pointed out that lower income voters dealing with affordability challenges tend to be more pragmatic, especially on public safety. "The voter who's in the place where they can't afford something, to be honest, I think they're more sensible voters," he said. He noted that people in struggling neighborhoods care a lot more about crime than residents of wealthy areas, which is probably because crime is slightly more abstract when you live behind a gated community.

As for the "I don't believe in prisons" crowd, Mottur called that "crazy talk" and described the whole situation as "amusing." Amusing is one word for it. Watching a Clinton loyalist publicly torch his own party's rising stars is the kind of entertainment you usually have to pay for.
