Former Democratic Chief Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee Julian Epstein went on "The Alex Marlow Show" and said out loud what a lot of people have been whispering for years: the Democratic Socialists of America are basically a communist organization. And according to Epstein, that is not his opinion. That is their own description of themselves.

As The American Tribune reported, Epstein pointed to data highlighted by The Free Press showing that 51% of the DSA's policy committee, which he described as the group's governing board, openly embraces communism, Marxism, or Marxist-Leninism. A majority. Not a fringe faction hiding in the corner at meetings. The actual people running the show.

"So the DSA is essentially a Communist organization, and that's not McCarthyism," Epstein said. "That's not Red Scare. That's how they describe themselves."

Well, at least they are honest about it. That puts them ahead of most politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Epstein, speaking with Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow, argued that the Democratic Party has completely lost the plot. He said the party used to be about building things. Better schools, better jobs, preparing workers for the future. Now, he says, the message is pure grievance and tearing stuff down. "I think this is a party that is like sheep; they're all falling off a cliff," Epstein said. "I've been warning about this for a long time."

He compared the current state of things to the Clinton era. "You remember Clinton talking about a bridge to the 21st century," Epstein said. "It was all about building." Now the bridge apparently leads to a commune.

Epstein also had some choice words for the DSA's actual support base, and it is not who you might think. "DSA is not getting any support from working class Americans, not from Black Americans, Hispanic Americans," he said. "It's all college-educated, the downward-mobile podcast class that wants to live in the most expensive cities in America and wants other people to foot the bill." He added that these activists feel "that if they're not living the glam life of matcha lattes, that the system's unfair to them."

The matcha latte line is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, but it is hard to argue with the imagery.

Epstein called the DSA's appeal "the con job," arguing that frustrated voters do not automatically sign up for ending democratic free markets just because they are unhappy with the status quo. He noted that "80 to 90%" of the public rejects the DSA's positions on issues like gender extremism, race essentialism, and climate extremism.

He also expressed hope that the DSA surge is "more like a Roman candle than a movement that will sustain itself over years because the DSA can't deliver on anything."

Perhaps his most devastating critique was the simplest one. "If nothing else, the DSA folks, in my mind, are boring," Epstein said. "They're just boring, boring people." He described them as people with old ideas who have no concept of how to create wealth and only care about redistributing what other people built. "The whole thing's a scam," he said, calling them "typical champagne socialists" who "live high on the hog" while selling grievance to everyone else.

Nothing scarier to a political movement than being called boring. You can survive being called radical. You cannot survive being called dull.
