Hillary and Chelsea Clinton to release 8-part documentary showing them ‘as you’ve never seen them before’

By FrankJuly 18, 2022Updated:August 20, 2025 Entertainment

Hillary and Chelsea Clinton are now officially documentary filmmakers. In a press release issued by both Apple TV+ and an Instagram post, Hillary Clinton announced on July 14th that she will be hosting an eight-part documentary series called “Gutsy” for the streaming service, with her daughter Chelsea.

The documentary series will be following the mother-daughter duo as they engage in conversations with women who inspire them as they continue to make positive changes in their communities and set the path for those who will come after them.

Apple TV+ released an intriguing statement promising viewers a chance to see “Hillary and Chelsea as you’ve never seen them before, revealing their special mother-daughter bond” and the different ways the two “address the important and timely issues highlighted in each episode.”

“Set your calendars to join Chelsea and me for intimate conversations about life, careers, and courage with some of our personal heroines,” Hillary Clinton said in her Instagram post. “We can’t wait to have you join this conversation with us.”

The announcement from the Clintons came with a sneak peek at some of the big names who will be appearing on the show, including Kim Kardashian, Gloria Steinem, Jane Goodall, Megan the Stud, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson.

The concept for the show is based on the 2019 New York Times bestselling book “The Book of Gutsy Women” written by the Clintons themselves. The book features women from both the past and present, not only those in the public eye but as well as the ones who work behind the scenes.

Some of the names featured in the book will also be included in the series show.

The docu-series is scheduled to air on September 9 on Apple TV+. The eight-part series features intimate conversations with some of the Clintons’ personal heroes — courageous and resilient women who have made an impact in their community and on the world. According to the filmmakers, their subjects include Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, Dr. Jane Goodall, Gloria Steinem, Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson and many others.

Originally titled Gutsy Women, the project was ordered straight to series in late 2020 and is all about what it means to be gutsy. Per the logline, the series shows the former Secretary of State and U.S. senator and the erstwhile first daughter as most haven’t them before, revealing their special mother-daughter bond and the unique, multi-generational way they approach the important and timely issues highlighted in each episode.

Produced by the Clintons’ HiddenLight Productions in association with Left/Right LLC, Gusty is executive produced by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, alongside Johnny Webb, Siobhan Sinnerton, Roma Khanna, Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver and showrunner Anna Chai. Kevin Vargas and Claire Featherstone are the producers, with Huma Abedin and Bari Lurie as consulting producers.

The production was first announced with a straight-to-series order in December 2020.

“Gutsy” comes from Apple by HiddenLight Productions, the production banner founded by the two Clintons and Sam Branson, in association with Left/Right LLC.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton was accused of fearmongering during a recent appearance. The failed presidential candidate, spoke with “CBS Mornings” about the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling and suggests it could lead to other decisions being turned back – despite no evidence any other decisions are being turned back. She’s being criticized on social media for fearmongering and trying to strike fear in people, particular women who may find themselves debating an abortion.

Hillary Clinton was on CBS Mornings speaking specifically about the Supreme Court overturn of Roe v Wade, but tried to link in other topics as if they were coming up next week – but they’re not, it appears to be a tactic to cause people to worry about “what’s next” even if nothing is next.

The former first lady, and wife of Bill Clinton who was part of a tryst with Monica Lewinsky, said about Justice Clarence Thomas: “I went to law school with [Justice Thomas]. He’s been a person of grievance for as long as I have known him — resentment, grievance, anger… Women are going to die, Gayle. Women will die.”
