Some lady Dank Demoss sued Lyft after a driver said she was TOO BIG to fit in the car

Dank Demoss (real name Dajua Blanding) sued Lyft for discrimination after a driver refused her a ride due to her weight in January 2025. The lawsuit has since been settled.

On January 18, 2025, Blanding requested a standard Lyft ride to a watch party. When the driver arrived in a Mercedes-Benz sedan, he allegedly locked the doors and told her she was "too big to fit" in his car and that his tires couldn't handle the weight, suggesting she order an XL vehicle instead.

Blanding recorded the interaction on video and posted it to social media, where it went viral. In the video, she can be heard insisting she could fit in the car.

Blanding and her attorneys filed a discrimination lawsuit against Lyft and the unnamed driver in Michigan. Her attorneys argued that, under Michigan's Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, weight is a protected characteristic, making the refusal of service illegal discrimination similar to refusing a ride based on race or religion.

Lyft publicly condemned all forms of discrimination, stating their community guidelines prohibit such behavior. A spokesperson for the company noted they believe in a community where everyone is treated with equal respect. Resolution The lawsuit was settled in the late summer/early fall of 2025. The terms of the settlement were confidential, but Demoss's attorney confirmed the case was "resolved" and she was reportedly happy with the outcome. Demoss has indicated she would use Lyft again following conversations with the company
