Democrat Deqa Dhalac wants taxpayer money sent to Somalia

Maine Representative Deqa Dhalac is currently facing conservative criticism over 2022 comments where she expressed a hope for the United States government to help rebuild Somalia, her former country. Critics, including President Trump, have interpreted these remarks as a goal to divert U.S. taxpayer money to a foreign nation.

Dhalac's statements were originally made in an interview following her election as the first Somali-American mayor in the U.S., where she discussed the positive influence of American democracy abroad.

Her comments have been resurfaced by opponents as part of a broader political dispute and debate about American legislative priorities and immigrant communities' role in U.S. politics.

Except here's the thing. We're Americans. We want our money spent HERE, not fixing up some third world dump. If she wants to spend money on Somalia, then she can move there and go rebuild it herself. Leave our taxes out of it.
