President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to do what he does best: roast somebody on television who said something he didn't like. This time the target was Fox News host Jessica Tarlov, the network's resident liberal on "The Five," whom Trump essentially accused of single-handedly ruining the show. As The American Tribune reported, the president did not hold back.
Trump questioned why Fox News continues to let Tarlov appear on the program, claiming her voice, manner, and commentary "soil" television broadcasting. That is a word choice you don't see every day in presidential communications, but here we are. He wrote, "Why does Fox News allow failed TV personality Jessica Tarlov to 'soil' The Five? Her voice, her manner, and above all else, what she says, are a disgrace to television broadcasting. I've had the best poll numbers that I've ever had, and she is constantly saying the exact opposite."
The president then rattled off a series of poll numbers like a fantasy football owner reading his lineup stats. He cited a Rasmussen Poll at 56%, Insider Advantage at 54%, and claimed others range from 56% to 68%. He reminded everyone that he won all seven swing states plus the popular vote, which is the presidential equivalent of bringing your trophy to Thanksgiving dinner.
In a rare moment of generosity, Trump praised conservative co-hosts Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld, calling them "terrific." But he noted they simply don't have access to the same poll numbers he does, so they can't properly defend him against Tarlov's claims. "In all fairness to Jesse and Greg, who are terrific, they don't see all of these poll numbers and can't, therefore, come to my defense. But I can!" the president wrote.
Trump also pivoted to immigration, claiming zero illegal aliens entered the country last month compared to 62,000 under Biden. He wrapped up with the kind of line that could fit on a bumper sticker: "People like Jessica Tarlov make MAGA absolutely hate Fox!"
The comments on his post were predictably supportive. One supporter named Lisa Hines called for mainstream media to be shut down entirely and replaced with conservative news. Another person admitted they stopped watching "The Five" altogether because of Tarlov. And Carl Goodwin offered a slightly more measured take, suggesting Tarlov is just reading what her producers tell her to say off the teleprompter.
So to summarize: the President of the United States used his social media platform to file what amounts to a formal complaint with Fox News management about one of their employees. Somewhere, an HR department is wondering if this counts as a ticket they need to respond to. The whole situation is basically a Yelp review of a cable news show written by the most powerful person on the planet, and honestly, that tracks perfectly for 2025.
