Ted Cruz Playing Political Nostradamus About 2028 Democrats

Ted Cruz has apparently added fortune teller to his resume, because the Texas senator is out here making bold prophecies about the future of the Democratic Party like he's got a crystal ball hidden under his desk.

In a video posted Thursday on X, as Conservative Brief reported, Cruz declared that Alexandria Ocasio Cortez will seek the presidency and that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will eventually boot Chuck Schumer right out of his Senate seat. Because apparently Ted Cruz now moonlights as a political weatherman forecasting storms that are still two years away.

But here is where it gets interesting. Cruz actually told his fellow Republicans to stop doing victory laps over what he sees as the Democrats veering further left. "Some Republicans are cheering because the Democrats are crazy," Cruz said, before dropping the line, "This country needs two parties that actually love America." So Ted Cruz is simultaneously roasting Democrats AND scolding his own teammates. That is some impressive multitasking.

He went even harder on Schumer in a separate post, writing that the Senate Minority Leader is "finished" and could never win a Democratic primary in New York again. Cruz even joked that Schumer would become the first member of the AOC presidential campaign. Imagine Chuck Schumer waving pom poms at an AOC rally. The mental image alone is worth the price of admission.

Meanwhile, AOC herself has been playing it cool about White House ambitions. When asked about leading a recent poll, she basically said polls are just polls and horse races are just horse races. Very zen. She told The Independent that her genuine focus right now is on winning the midterm majority. Classic "I am definitely thinking about it but cannot say that yet" energy.

The polling numbers are actually pretty wild though. A University of New Hampshire survey found AOC narrowly ahead with 22 percent among likely Democratic primary voters, with Pete Buttigieg breathing down her neck at 21 percent. Mark Kelly grabbed 9 percent, Gavin Newsom got 8, Bernie Sanders pulled 6, and Kamala Harris landed at 5.

An Emerson College poll told a somewhat different story, putting Buttigieg on top at 19 percent, Newsom at 17, and both AOC and Jon Ossoff tied at 13. Harris got 8, Andy Beshear received 7, Josh Shapiro pulled 5, and JB Pritzker rounded things out at 3 percent.

On the Republican side, JD Vance and Marco Rubio are already getting mentioned as potential 2028 contenders, because apparently the next presidential race begins before the current president even gets comfortable in the chair.

No major Democrat has officially announced a presidential campaign yet, which makes total sense considering 2028 is still over two years away. But that has never stopped anyone in Washington from speculating wildly. Whether Cruz's predictions come true or age like milk in the sun remains to be seen, but you have to admire a man willing to put his forecasting reputation on the line this early.
