Things just got absolutely nuclear between former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham and Ohio Congressman Max Miller, and honestly, the drama is almost too much to keep up with.
Grisham just filed for a restraining order against the Republican lawmaker, escalating a legal and political firestorm that was already torching his reelection prospects, as The American Tribune reported. The specific reason behind the restraining order request remains unclear, and her attorney Mark Zaid didn't respond when asked about it.
Here's the backstory for anyone who hasn't been keeping score. Grisham and Miller were romantically involved while both served in the first Trump administration. She held the press secretary title, and he worked as a special assistant to the president. In her 2021 memoir, she accused an unnamed ex of physically abusing her during their relationship. She later publicly identified Miller as that person.
Miller then turned around and sued her over those claims. That lawsuit got settled in August 2023, mere weeks before trial was set to begin. But the peace didn't last long.
This past July, Grisham hit Miller with a fresh lawsuit, alleging he violated their nondisclosure agreement during a sit down with Spectrum News. In that interview, Miller referenced abuse accusations from both Grisham and his ex-wife Emily Moreno, suggesting the timing of Grisham's claims conveniently aligned with her book launch.
Now here's where this whole saga goes completely sideways. Miller's own former father-in-law, Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno, publicly demanded that the congressman resign from office. The senator posted on X that Miller's behavior has become "increasingly erratic and dangerous" and called him a threat to his daughter's safety.
The family situation is a total mess. Miller tied the knot with Emily Moreno in 2022 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. He filed divorce papers in August 2024, literally on their second wedding anniversary. Let that sink in. They share custody of a two-year-old daughter, but Emily Moreno is now fighting for full custody.
Court documents paint a disturbing picture. Moreno has alleged that Miller pushed her, poured scalding water on her leaving burn marks, and held a firearm to her head. Miller has denied all of it.
President Trump weighed in but stopped well short of telling Miller to bow out. He called Miller "a good person" and said he'd let the families work things out, noting they are "accusations."
In a bold move, Miller released a batch of records claiming they would exonerate him. That strategy backfired spectacularly. The materials reportedly included audio of him admitting to dumping hot water on his ex-wife in 2024, plus recordings of her accusing him of drug abuse.
