Rashida Tlaib Caught Spreading Debunked Michael Brown Lie

Rep. Rashida Tlaib called Michael Brown's 2014 shooting death a "murder" on social media Friday.

There's just one massive problem with that claim. Barack Obama's own Department of Justice thoroughly investigated the Ferguson, Missouri incident and concluded the exact opposite. Officer Darren Wilson acted in self-defense after Brown attacked him and charged at him. No federal charges were ever filed. No indictment ever came down. The "hands up, don't shoot" narrative was fabricated, according to the very administration that would have loved nothing more than to prove otherwise.

As reported, Community Notes on X swooped in with the correction almost immediately, laying out the DOJ's findings in plain terms. Physical evidence contradicted witness accounts that initially supported the surrender narrative. Several of those witnesses later confessed they never actually saw what they originally described. Forensic analysis backed up Wilson's version of events.

Let that sink in. This wasn't some right-wing outfit clearing the officer. This was Eric Holder's Justice Department, a man who made investigating police civil rights violations his signature mission. If there had been any viable path toward a murder charge, Holder would have pursued it with everything he had. Months of investigation led to one conclusion: self-defense.

So why is Tlaib, a sitting congresswoman representing Michigan's 12th District, posting twelve-year-old disinformation like it's breaking news? She tied the incident to "white supremacy, police violence, and mass incarceration" in her social media post. The DOJ report has been publicly available for over a decade. She's been serving in Congress this entire time. She knows the findings exist.

As one commentator noted, she's either completely uninformed or deliberately pushing a falsehood. Given her position and access to information, the second option seems far more likely.

The real kicker is what that particular lie helped unleash over the years. The BLM movement that grew from this debunked narrative resulted in billions of dollars worth of destroyed property. Police officers were targeted and assassinated. The "defund the police" push gutted law enforcement across major American cities. Homicide rates surged roughly 30 percent between 2019 and 2021, with Black Americans bearing the heaviest toll, the very community the movement claimed to champion.

Meanwhile, in Tlaib's home state, Abdul El-Sayed, the DSA's Senate nominee whose supporter base reportedly includes someone who stated America deserved the September 11th attacks, now represents the face of her party's 2026 campaign.

The congresswoman is actively promoting a narrative that Obama's own administration dismantled piece by piece. Community Notes flagged it within minutes. Yet the myth persists because too many political careers depend on keeping it breathing.

That's not fighting for justice. That's stoking racial tension for political advantage while wrapping it in noble-sounding language. And millions of Americans are absolutely fed up watching it happen in real time.
