Good news is good news, and we will take it wherever we can find it. Kai Trump shared an encouraging update on her mother Vanessa Trump's breast cancer recovery this week, as Conservative Brief reported, telling Page Six at the 2026 ESPY Awards that things are heading in the right direction.
"My mom's doing good," the 19 year old said while walking the red carpet in New York City. "She's doing better."
Kai also appeared on Fox & Friends on Thursday, where she elaborated on how Vanessa is handling the grind of treatment. "She's doing better. Obviously, radiation takes a toll on your body, but she's doing better and feeling better," Kai said. "She's been a little tired, but yeah, she's a fighter."
Vanessa, 48, first announced her breast cancer diagnosis back in May via Instagram, writing at the time, "While this isn't the news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me."
In June, she followed up with another update revealing she had undergone surgery and was moving into the next phase of treatment. "Over the past four weeks, I've been recovering from surgery, and I'm grateful to be healing and moving forward," she wrote. "Soon, I'll be starting the second stage of my treatment."
So she is recovering from surgery, pushing through radiation, and apparently still managing to go shopping with her daughter at a mall in West Palm Beach. If that is not resilience, nothing is.
Meanwhile, Kai is gearing up for her freshman year at the University of Miami, where she will play on the women's golf team. She shared some advice she has gotten from her grandfather, President Donald Trump, who apparently tells her, "Enjoy every moment of it. It's going to be rocky, but enjoy every moment of it." Standard grandpa stuff, except this grandpa has the nuclear codes.
Kai also revealed that golf legend Tiger Woods, who has been dating Vanessa since early 2025, has offered his own wisdom. "Be yourself, trust the process," she said Woods tells her. An unnamed source told Page Six that Woods has remained by Vanessa's side throughout treatment, saying, "He's proud of how positive she's stayed and how she's handling everything so far. She's been so strong, and he truly believes she's going to be OK. He's just trying to support her however he can right now."
Tiger Woods dating a Trump and becoming a supportive stepdad figure to five kids is one of those timeline developments nobody had on their bingo card, but here we are and it seems to be working out pretty well for everyone involved.
Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr. were married from 2005 until their divorce was finalized in 2018. They share five children: Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe.
The road is not over yet, but by all accounts Vanessa is surrounded by people who care about her and pushing forward. We wish her well.
