Nothing says "overstaying your welcome" quite like a guy who played in five whole NFL games and then hung around the country for a decade collecting criminal charges. As Trending Politics reported, former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Daniel Ogama Adongo, a Kenyan citizen, was booted from the United States by ICE after overstaying his visa and racking up quite the rap sheet.
Let's talk about this man's football resume, because it is absolutely spectacular in its brevity. Adongo was originally a rugby player from Kenya who bounced around teams in South Africa and New Zealand before the Colts decided to take a flyer on him in July 2013. Standing roughly 6 foot 5 and weighing over 250 pounds, he looked the part. Unfortunately, looking the part and playing the part are two very different things. He appeared in two games that year without recording a single tackle. Not one. He then hurt his biceps in 2014 and came back for three more games in 2015, mostly running down the field on special teams. Five career appearances, zero career tackles. That's the kind of stat line that belongs in a museum.
The Colts cut him loose in December 2015 after cops were called to his home on two separate occasions regarding domestic disturbance allegations involving a woman at his residence. No charges came from those incidents, but apparently the team had seen enough.
Here's where it gets really fun. Instead of heading back to Kenya when his football dream fizzled out, Adongo decided to overstay his visa starting in 2016 and apparently committed to a new career path: getting arrested in Indiana. Over the following years, law enforcement picked him up multiple times on charges including felony intimidation, battery, and disorderly conduct. In 2020, he scored a conviction for criminal mischief involving property damage and got sentenced to 364 days behind bars.
Federal immigration agents finally caught up with him on September 11, 2025. He was locked up at the Miami Correctional Facility in Indiana, which serves as an immigration detention site. His case fell under the Laken Riley Act, which mandates detention without bond for certain noncitizens facing specified criminal charges. An immigration judge ordered his removal on March 23, and ICE flew him out of Chicago on June 20.
ICE Chicago Assistant Field Office Director Douglas Thompson released a statement calling Adongo a "dangerous individual" and a "threat to the community," adding that immigration law violators face equal accountability, "including former professional athletes." The agency also pointed out that roughly 70 percent of their arrests involve people charged with or convicted of crimes in America.
So to recap: came to America to play football, played in five games, never made a tackle, overstayed his visa by nearly a decade, got arrested a bunch of times, and finally got shown the door. That's one heck of a career arc.
