As Trending Views reported, Houston posted on X that she dropped off the cake following the sudden death of Sen. Lindsey Graham and Nordone's subsequent appointment to finish out his Senate term. The message on the cake read "CONGRATUDOLENCES!" which is apparently a blend of "congratulations" and "condolences." The cake featured a printed photo of Graham smiling in a suit and tie, blue icing roses, white frosting borders, the whole nine yards. Someone put actual effort into this, which is somehow the saddest part.
Houston wrote on X: "I just dropped this cake off at Lindsey Graham's office. Congratudolences, Darline! Your brother is burning in hell, and now, you're working for the devil!"
Nothing says "I'm a well-adjusted adult" quite like custom-ordering a spite cake for a grieving woman you have never met.
Some corners of the internet predictably loved it. One person wrote, "You're truly doing god's work," and another said, "Elizabeth, I love you. When I grow up I want to be just like you." Sure. Aspire to be the person who weaponizes baked goods against mourning family members. Dream big.
But plenty of people were not having it. One critic fired back, "You really need a different hobby if you were so invested in politics that this is what you resort to. Good thing I wasn't there because you would've been wearing your cake." Another pointed out the obvious logistical flaw: "It's funny that you think anyone will see that cake other than the intern who throws it away. Complete waste of time and money." A third put it plainly: "Get a life. I wasn't a fan of Lindsey, but this is ridiculous. Your hatred is rotting your brain."
That last one pretty much nails it. You do not have to agree with a single thing Lindsey Graham ever did or said to recognize that delivering a taunting cake to his grieving sister's office is the behavior of someone who has let politics consume their entire personality.
Graham, 71, died Saturday night from what an autopsy suggested was aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. He had been one of the Senate's most active members, with an appearance on "Meet the Press" even scheduled for the following Sunday morning. His office confirmed the final death certificate would not be completed until additional testing is finished. Nordone was appointed and sworn in to serve out the remainder of his term.
So to recap: a sitting United States Senator died suddenly, his sister stepped up to serve, and a comedian thought the appropriate response was a custom cake with a hellfire message. We have truly reached the point where political disagreement has become so unhinged that people are commissioning pastries to express it.
The only thing this cake accomplished is that everyone collectively agrees the woman is a c#nt.
