Becerra Called Kid Facility a 'Model' Then a Whistleblower Showed Up

Xavier Becerra, who currently wants to be California's next governor, has a bit of a problem. Actually, scratch that. He has a massive, flaming, whistleblower-shaped problem. As USA Journal reported, back in July 2021, Becerra strolled through the Pomona Fairplex emergency intake site for unaccompanied migrant children and proudly declared it was a shining example for the nation, a place where kids could stay healthy and protected.

Well, a caseworker who actually spent six months working inside that very facility during 2021 just came forward with a slightly different review. Think of it as the world's worst Yelp rating. According to this whistleblower, a first-generation American and mother of two whose family emigrated from El Salvador, children at the Fairplex experienced abuse, were separated from their siblings, and got released to sponsors who showed up with fake documents. Kids were shuffled around in the middle of the night and handed off to adults at unverified addresses. Some of those children were literally never heard from again.

One gut-wrenching case involved a five-year-old girl referred to as Grace who arrived with her seven-year-old sister. Grace became extremely distressed because she couldn't locate her sibling and hadn't seen her in days. The caseworker flagged concerns, and those concerns were promptly steamrolled by institutional pressure to reunify kids with sponsors at warp speed, regardless of whether the sponsors had any actual verified connection to the children.

In another case, a 14-year-old girl became pregnant after being sexually assaulted. She had been trafficked into sex work by a woman described as her so-called aunt and sponsor. That happened inside the facility Becerra labeled a model for America. Let that sink in for a moment.

None of this exists in a vacuum. Biden's own Department of Homeland Security Inspector General documented that over 300,000 unaccompanied migrant children went missing during that administration. Nearly 480,000 unaccompanied minors crossed the border while Becerra ran HHS, the very agency that was legally required to protect them. When a local TV interviewer asked him about the missing children earlier this year, Becerra reportedly got defensive and insisted no kids were lost on his watch.

Sure, buddy. The whistleblower disagrees. The Inspector General disagrees. The actual documentation disagrees. But go ahead and run on that record.

And here's the politically explosive cherry on top of this nightmare sundae. Becerra is currently the frontrunner for the California Democratic gubernatorial nomination. He is literally campaigning on his accomplishments while his department's own numbers show hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children vanished, and a firsthand witness says trafficking, sibling separation, and releases to unverified strangers were happening right under his nose.

Remember when certain politicians spent years accusing Republicans of child abuse for building border facilities? Becerra toured one where a teenager was being trafficked and gave it a gold star. California voters now get to decide what they think about that.
