Mount Holly has canceled its Fourth of July celebration ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary, citing safety concerns. Mount Holly Township and its police department
announced the cancellation in a joint statement on Facebook, saying they have been monitoring local events throughout the state that have been canceled due to “alarming violence.”
Officials said they closely tracked events held with increased security measures.
“With our spectators and vendors’ safety top of mind, we could not enact a viable, actionable solution in such a short period of time to alleviate our security concerns without incurring additional, significant costs to the township and our residents,” officials said in the joint statement.

shared a post on Facebook noting their confusion and concern over the cancellation.
