(Crankers) Big problems in New Jersey! Two businessmen and former Democrat Senator Robert Menendez were sentenced to jail amid a string of crimes related to a gold bar bribery case.

Menendez, 71, was sentenced to 11 years for bribery, foreign agent, and obstruction of justice related offenses. The two businessmen were sentenced to 97 months and seven years in prison as reported by Justice.gov .

U.S. Attorney Danielle R. Sassoon said: “The sentences imposed today result from an egregious abuse of power at the highest levels of the Legislative Branch of the federal government. Robert Menendez was trusted to represent the United States and the State of New Jersey, but instead he used his position to help his co-conspirators and a foreign government, in exchange for bribes like cash, gold, and a luxury car. The sentences imposed today send a clear message that attempts at any level of government to corrupt the nation’s foreign policy and the rule of law will be met with just punishment.”

Senator Bob Menendez is incarcerated at the minimum-security federal prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania (Federal Correctional Institution, Allenwood, or FCI Allenwood).

Menendez was a United States Senator for the state of New Jersey. He was first appointed to the Senate in January 2006 and served until he resigned in August 2024, representing the state for nearly 19 years.
