Ghislaine Maxwell may try to strike prison release deal with Trump

(Crankers) Ghislaine Maxwell is serving 20-years in a federal jail and wants Trump to reduce her sentence, according to a new document that Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee were able to obtain.

According to Politico, a message Maxwell wrote to her attorney, Leah Saffian, was given to the committee by an anonymous informant. Maxwell stated that she intended to send documents via the warden.

Maxwell wrote that she was struggling to organize the material because of the number of required attachments. She added that more documents were coming and that she hoped the final package would make sense.

The Supreme Court previously declined to hear Maxwell’s appeal of her conviction. Trump has not ruled out the possibility of a pardon or commutation.

Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, sent a six page letter to Trump on Sunday. He demanded answers about Maxwell’s prison conditions after she was moved from a low security federal prison in Florida to an even lower security facility in Texas.

That transfer occurred after a meeting between Maxwell and Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche that lasted most of a day.

Raskin’s letter followed another detailed letter he sent in August. He called on Blanche to testify before the House Judiciary Committee and to provide information about what Democrats describe as possible misconduct.

According to ABC News, Raskin said the committee needs to determine whether there was any improper exchange of favors or pressure to obtain testimony that could benefit anyone linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

Additionally, Raskin cautioned Trump against pardoning Maxwell . He stated that while she is serving her term, the government shouldn’t grant her any special treatment or benefits.

Why is Raskin against this? If Maxwell spills the beans on everyone in exchange for a pardon, then isn’t that a good thing?
