A woman driving through Clacton, Essex decided that the most important thing she could do while operating a motor vehicle was to scream profanity at British politician Nigel Farage, who was standing on the sidewalk chatting with colleagues. As reported by The American Tribune, the whole beautiful disaster was caught on camera, and Farage wasted absolutely no time sharing it with the world.
So here is the scene. Farage, leader of the right-wing Reform UK party, is standing curbside while traffic rolls by. Along comes a gray Vauxhall Astra with the window conveniently rolled down. The driver spots Farage, turns her entire head and attention toward him, lets loose a colorful verbal greeting, and keeps staring in his direction as her vehicle continues rolling forward. You know, instead of watching where two tons of metal are headed.
Meanwhile, a BMW directly in front of her was doing what cars typically do at red lights, which is stop. The Astra driver apparently missed that memo because she was too busy making sure Farage heard every syllable. By the time she finally remembered that driving involves looking through the windshield, it was too late. She slammed on the brakes, but physics had other plans. A satisfying crunch echoed through the street as her car plowed into the back of that BMW.
Farage and his group spun around at the sound, visibly stunned by the comedic timing the universe had just delivered on a silver platter. One bystander near Farage summed things up perfectly: "She won't be doing that again in a hurry." The whole group burst into laughter.
Fortunately, nobody appeared to be injured, though one can only imagine how delightful that insurance phone call must have been. "Yes, hello, I rear-ended a BMW because I was busy yelling at a politician. No, I am not joking."
Farage posted the footage on social media with the caption: "This lady shouted abuse at me and then crashed her own car. That's what you might call instant karma!"
The Reform UK leader was in Clacton campaigning for a by-election in the constituency. He previously won the seaside seat during the 2024 general election after multiple failed attempts to get into Parliament. Clacton has remained a key battleground for his party's efforts to challenge Britain's established political order.
This is not even the first time Farage has encountered hostility while campaigning there. During the 2024 campaign, someone threw a banana milkshake at him outside a pub, drenching his suit on camera. At least this time, he got to just stand there and watch the consequences unfold entirely on their own.
The lesson here is timeless: if you absolutely must shout at politicians from your car, maybe throw it in park first.
