Every single one of those removals shrinks the pool of people committing violent acts.
Speaking of D.C., that city is basically the poster child for this transformation. The nation's capital tallied 424 murders combined across 2020 and 2021, then peaked at a staggering 274 in 2023. Fast forward to the first six months of 2026, and D.C. recorded just 46 homicides. That represents a 43.9 percent drop compared to last year's same period. National Guard deployment pushed numbers even lower.
This is precisely what happens when the federal government enforces existing laws, locks up violent offenders, removes criminal aliens, and lets police officers actually do their jobs. Compare that to the "defund the police" circus, bail reform disasters, and open border policies that fueled 2020's killing spree.
The political establishment will twist itself into pretzels crediting anything except the obvious. But the data does not care about anyone's feelings or preferred narrative.
