A ten dollar political contribution may cost a 29-year-old White House official her entire career.
Morgan DeWitt-Snow, who essentially runs the Presidential Personnel Office inside the West Wing, landed squarely in Trump's sights after the president discovered she donated to Mike Pence back in 2023, according to reports citing six separate sources. The contribution was a measly ten bucks. That is not a typo. Ten. Dollars.
Here is the kicker. DeWitt-Snow apparently only chipped in because a buddy of hers practically pleaded with her to help Pence meet the threshold for qualifying for a GOP primary debate. That is it. No grand loyalty pledge. No secret Pence fan club membership. Just a friend doing a favor.
But in Trump World, that is basically treason.
The president has been crystal clear about his feelings regarding anyone with ties to his former vice president. Shortly after taking office again, Trump posted on Truth Social urging people not to send or recommend anyone connected to Pence for administration roles. So when the DeWitt-Snow donation surfaced, things got ugly fast.
Trump reportedly started pushing for her removal in late July. But then White House chief of staff Susie Wiles stepped in and pumped the brakes. Wiles and DeWitt-Snow are apparently tight. The White House has officially denied that DeWitt-Snow is about to get the boot. But sources paint a very different picture, saying she is "hanging by a thread" and skating on "thin ice." That sounds like someone whose desk could get cleared out any morning.
The Pence donation is not even the only problem. DeWitt-Snow's office handles recruiting and vetting candidates for thousands of federal positions across the government. Multiple administration insiders say the operation has been painfully slow and riddled with internal squabbles. One source compared the entire office to a "failed state," claiming Cabinet secretaries have been complaining about the glacial pace of getting people hired and vetted.
