Yet another member of the Trump administration is heading for the exits, and naturally, it comes right before midterm season heats up. Abigail Jackson, who served as White House Deputy Press Secretary, announced she's peacing out to take a gig at OnMessage Public Strategies, as Conservative Brief reported on Wednesday.
But don't worry, she didn't leave without absolutely gushing on her way out the door. Jackson hopped on X to declare that Donald Trump is "the greatest President of my lifetime," which is pretty much the required exit speech at this point. It's like the political version of telling your boss they were amazing as you clean out your desk. She also called it a "tremendous honor" and said she's "looking forward to this next chapter," which is corporate speak for "I got a better offer."
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded with a statement so complimentary you'd think Jackson had personally saved the Republic. Leavitt called her "one of the best communicators in Republican politics" and praised her for shaping press coverage at "the highest level." She also threw in the classic line about Jackson being a "workhorse," because nothing says goodbye like comparing your colleague to a farm animal.
Not to be outdone, Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller called Jackson a "communications powerhouse" who earned "universal praise and admiration" from basically everyone. Meanwhile, her new employer at OnMessage Public Strategies went with "rock star," because apparently we're still using that term in 2026.
Jackson joined the White House back in May 2025 and later picked up the additional title of special assistant to the president in January. Before her administration stint, she worked as deputy communications director for the Republican National Committee and spent years working for Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, climbing from press secretary all the way up to deputy chief of staff and communications director. She also previously worked for former Rep. Matt Rosendale of Montana and did rapid response work for Donald J. Trump for President Inc.
As for who fills her shoes, Lauren Bis, currently the assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, is expected to slide into the role, according to Real Daily Wire, as reported by The Hill. Leavitt wrote on X that they're "very sad" to see Jackson go but look forward to welcoming Bis to the team.
Speaking of Leavitt, she recently popped back up on Fox News after weeks of maternity leave. She gave birth to her daughter in early May after going on leave in late April. During a chat with Sean Hannity, she discussed the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool situation, revealing that authorities arrested at least five people connected to alleged vandalism, with 14 police reports filed. The whole saga involves algae growing in the pool after a restoration project, with the administration accusing critics of sabotaging it. Activists have even shown up carrying signs in support of the algae, which is honestly the most 2026 sentence ever written.
