Trump Blasts His Own Ally Over a Pool Liner Dispute

Nothing says "America" quite like the President of the United States getting into a public beef with one of his closest allies over a peeling pool liner. As Trending Politics reported, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to absolutely torch Jeanine Pirro, his handpicked U.S. Attorney for Washington D.C., after her office decided to toss out felony charges against a 67 year old former Olympic canoeist. Yes, you read every word of that correctly.

Here's the backstory. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool got a fancy $14 to $16 million renovation under the Trump Administration, complete with a shiny new blue lining. After they filled it back up with water, things went sideways pretty fast. The lining started peeling, algae turned the water green, and the whole thing looked less "majestic national monument" and more "neglected above ground pool at a foreclosed house."

Enter David Hearn, a former Olympic canoeist from Bethesda, Maryland, who was out on a bike ride in June when he noticed material already coming loose in the pool. He reached in to examine it, a park worker told him to knock it off, and he stopped. For this, prosecutors slapped him with a felony property destruction charge, alleging he "forcefully and violently" yanked up pool sealant with both hands, causing over a thousand dollars in damage.

Hearn pleaded not guilty, and his legal team insisted from the jump that the whole case was nonsense. Turns out they were right. Pirro's office filed a motion to dismiss after discovering that the damage was actually caused by a botched installation job from contractor Atlantic Industrial Coatings, combined with a rush to finish everything before America 250 Independence Day celebrations in 2026. Prosecutors admitted the Department of the Interior gave them incomplete information and that they never would have pursued an indictment if they had known the full picture.

So Pirro did the responsible thing and dropped a case that couldn't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. And for this act of basic prosecutorial integrity, Trump publicly said he disagreed "100%" with her decision, called it a "pure case of VANDALISM," and posted video he claimed showed someone cutting the pool material with a knife or box cutter.

Trump also referenced separate vandalism incidents, including someone carving "86 47" into the grass near the National Mall, which is a completely different situation from a retired canoeist poking at a liner that was already falling apart on its own.

As of Saturday, the dismissal motion for Hearn's case is still waiting on a judge's approval. His attorneys want an apology and have pointed out that dropping the charges doesn't address why he was arrested and charged in the first place.

So to recap the situation: a multimillion dollar pool renovation fell apart, prosecutors blamed a retiree on a bicycle, the contractor blamed the government, the government blamed the contractor, and now Trump is publicly feuding with one of his biggest supporters over the whole mess. Your tax dollars hard at work, folks.
