Trump And Michael Cohen Reunite On Air After Years Of War

Donald Trump sat down with his former nemesis Michael Cohen for their first public chat in almost ten years.

Let that sink in. The man who testified against Trump in court and before Congress just had a friendly 40-minute radio conversation with the president, as reported on Thursday. This is the kind of plot twist that would get rejected from a Hollywood script for being too unbelievable.

Cohen, who once called himself Trump's fiercely devoted personal lawyer, became one of the president's loudest and most visible critics after their relationship imploded amid federal probes. He went from taking bullets for Trump to firing them. Now? The two are cracking jokes together on the radio like old college buddies catching up at a reunion.

The conversation kicked off with Cohen bringing up his now legendary 2016 CNN moment with Brianna Keilar, where he fired back with the immortal words "says who" after being confronted about Trump's polling numbers. Trump instantly recalled how Cohen got steamrolled after their falling out.

"And then they weaponized you like nobody's ever been weaponized, like few have been," Trump told his former attorney. Cohen quipped back that maybe only the president himself went through something comparable. "Well, maybe just you and me, sir," Cohen responded.

Then came the real bombshell moment. Trump told Cohen directly that he respects the fact Cohen walked back everything he previously said against him, calling it "a big thing." That single sentence basically rewrites years of scorched earth political warfare.

Cohen also pulled back the curtain on a private moment from 2016, revealing that Trump once told him the morning after his viral CNN appearance to forget the haters because they were stronger together. He then pivoted to blasting left-leaning media outlets for what he called unfair coverage of Trump's polling and approval data.

Trump was more than happy to pile on, specifically taking aim at The New York Times and declaring that political polls are rigged. He acknowledged some journalists do good work but argued that many traditional outlets have completely torched their own credibility with audiences.

But here is where things get really spicy. Cohen told CNN after the interview that he is hoping this renewed connection with Trump could open a path toward a presidential pardon. He also mentioned plans to follow up with the administration the very next day. Whether Trump would actually grant his former fixer that kind of clemency is anyone's guess at this point.

The roughly 40-minute discussion will drop in two parts. The first installment aired Thursday, with the second portion scheduled for Cohen's Sunday program, "When You Know You Know."

After courtroom testimony, mutual public attacks, federal investigations, and years of genuine animosity, these two are suddenly playing nice again. Cohen clearly wants to keep this door open. The real question now is whether Trump plans to walk through it, or just let his old lawyer stand there knocking.
