Rubio's State Dept Already Yanked 600 Visas in Birth Tourism Crackdown

The State Department just axed over 600 visas in a single month as part of a brand new task force targeting birth tourism.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is leading the charge with the freshly minted Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force, and the operation is already producing results at a jaw-dropping pace. As reported, the initiative zeroes in on foreign nationals who fly into the country specifically to deliver babies on American soil, securing U.S. citizenship for their newborns under the 14th Amendment.

Here is the long game these folks are allegedly playing. Once those kids grow up and hit adulthood, they can legally sponsor their parents for residency. It is basically a decades-long immigration workaround, and it has apparently turned into a full-blown industry with organized rings coaching people on how to game the visa system, setting up housing, arranging travel, and even forging documents.

The task force is not just revoking visas left and right. It is also working to completely dismantle the networks profiting off this scheme. That means tracking travel histories of individuals across the globe, cross-referencing data with other federal agencies, and identifying patterns that point to birth tourism activity.

Current immigration law already prohibits using visitor visas for the primary purpose of giving birth in America to obtain citizenship for a child. Anyone who lies about their reason for entering the country could face visa denial, revocation, or other serious consequences. But enforcement has clearly been ramped up to a whole new level.

The task force follows an executive order from President Donald Trump that formally defined birth tourism and gave both the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security broad authority to crack down on it through new rules, policies, and guidance.

Rubio did not mince words about the operation. He declared that American citizenship is not something that can be purchased and called the practice a heinous abuse of the country's laws. He pointed specifically to the elaborate rings making money off the scheme, saying they coach foreign nationals to commit fraud against the visa system.

The State Department echoed that sentiment, stating it is deploying every tool at its disposal to protect the integrity of U.S. citizenship and ensure visitor visas are only used for their actual intended purpose.

Love it or hate it, 600 revoked visas in just 30 days sends a very loud message. The administration is clearly betting that aggressive enforcement will deter people from trying this route altogether. Whether these operations survive legal challenges remains to be seen, but for now, Rubio and the task force are moving at a pace that suggests they are just warming up.

Politics in 2025 continues to be absolutely wild.
