Julian Epstein Ditches Democrats To Back Mike Rogers In Michigan

The Democratic Party is ripping itself apart at the seams, and the fallout is absolutely spectacular.

Julian Epstein, the former press secretary for Jill Biden and a lifelong loyal Democrat, just dropped a political bombshell. He publicly declared on Friday that he will cast his vote for Republican Mike Rogers in the Michigan Senate race, as Conservative Brief reported. That sound you hear? It is the Democratic establishment collectively losing its mind.

So what pushed this veteran party operative over the edge? Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, who barely squeaked past moderate Rep. Haley Stevens in a primary battle earlier this week. Epstein penned a scorching op-ed in the New York Post laying out exactly why he is jumping ship.

"After spending decades pouring everything into supporting Democratic House and Senate candidates, this autumn I will back Mike Rogers instead," Epstein wrote. He also promised to rally fellow Democrats to do the same. That is not a quiet disagreement. That is a full-blown political mutiny.

Epstein went scorched earth on his own party's leadership, singling out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as "weak" and "timid" for hiding behind phrases like "big tent party" while refusing to confront what Epstein called a dangerous faction gaining power. The only Democrat he spared from criticism? Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman.

The former Biden official described the DSA's ideology as seeking to abolish prisons, policing, borders, the Senate, the presidency, the Supreme Court, and free markets. He accused El-Sayed of expressing sympathy for Middle Eastern terrorist groups and refusing to acknowledge Israel's right to exist. Epstein also took aim at Hasan Piker, whom he identified as El-Sayed's principal campaign surrogate, accusing him of blaming America for 9/11 and publicly expressing admiration for Mao Zedong.

Meanwhile, a grassroots group calling itself Democrats For Mike Rogers popped up on social media, posting that they previously supported Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris but absolutely refuse to back El-Sayed. They pointed to Rogers' role in tracking down Osama Bin Laden as proof he deserves their vote.

Rogers himself seized the moment brilliantly, releasing a video alongside his wife that was essentially an open invitation to disaffected Stevens supporters. "If you woke up Wednesday feeling hopeless because the primary winner doesn't reflect your values, just know that hope still exists," Rogers said. He pitched himself as someone willing to listen and represent all Michigan residents, from parents worried about education to young people struggling with housing costs to working families opposed to higher taxes.

"For the vast majority who refuse to support a campaign defined by anger, divisiveness, and calls for violence, you are welcome with us," Rogers added.

This internal civil war within the Democratic Party could have massive consequences well beyond Michigan. If a former Jill Biden spokesperson is publicly endorsing the Republican candidate, the fracture lines run deeper than anyone in party leadership wants to admit. November is going to be absolutely wild.
