JD Vance claims his fraud task force has uncovered roughly $230 billion in suspicious payments since January.
The Vice President sat down with Fox News Digital from his West Wing office and dropped some explosive allegations about how certain immigrant populations have been gaming federal benefit programs on a massive scale, according to reports. And the numbers are absolutely staggering.
Trump tapped Vance earlier this year to spearhead a special initiative focused on rooting out waste, abuse, and outright theft of taxpayer funds. The VP says his team has already managed to freeze around $55 billion in government payments flowing to people and organizations currently being investigated.
Here is where it gets really juicy. Vance laid out what he called a clear and repeating pattern within specific immigrant populations. He used Somali communities as one example, explaining how a single person might figure out that certain benefit programs require zero verification. You can literally say you have kids when you do not, and the checks start rolling in. Then word travels fast through that community, and suddenly the whole program gets drained dry.
The real kicker? Vance says the people getting hurt are not just taxpayers footing the bill. He pointed to new mothers trying to get legitimate assistance for their babies, only to find the money has already been siphoned off. He also highlighted families with autistic children who depend on specialized services, only to discover that grifters with no children at all have been collecting those funds.
The task force is now collaborating with Dr. Mehmet Oz, who runs the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, along with multiple federal agencies. Their work has already led to suspended payments at hundreds of hospice and home health operations in Minnesota and California flagged for shady activity. Several other states are also on their radar.
Law enforcement is moving fast too. Just last week, federal and state authorities slapped charges on 19 defendants allegedly involved in schemes totaling over $4 million in bogus Medicare and Medicaid claims. Over in Pennsylvania, Attorney General Dave Sunday wrapped up a case against 21 individuals accused of filing more than $1.7 million in phony healthcare claims, with the last defendant agreeing to a plea deal.
Democrats, predictably, are furious. They have accused the White House of stripping food and other vital support from children who genuinely need it. The administration fires back that those claims are flat out false and that the real problem is billions vanishing into the pockets of people exploiting the system.
Vance has been juggling a lot lately. Beyond fraud busting, he has been involved in diplomatic talks with Iran and recently welcomed a new baby into his family. The guy is clearly keeping busy.
Love him or not, $230 billion in suspected fraud is a number that should make every single taxpayer sit up and pay attention. That is not pocket change. That is a colossal pile of public money allegedly going to people gaming the system while legitimate recipients get left holding an empty bag.
