Nothing says "happy family" quite like a sitting U.S. Senator publicly demanding that his former son-in-law resign from Congress and get therapy. Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio went full scorched earth on Representative Max Miller, also of Ohio, after his daughter Emily Moreno leveled serious domestic abuse allegations against Miller, as Trending Politics reported. Miller has denied all of the allegations.
Moreno took to X to share what might be the most devastating family statement since someone invented Thanksgiving dinner arguments. He said the past two years have been "pure hell" for his wife Bridget, his daughter Emily, and their whole family following Emily's divorce. He also noted that an innocent two-year-old girl is stuck right in the middle of this nightmare.
The senator went on to say that he originally wanted to keep everything private, but Miller's "increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior" made that a non-starter. Moreno claimed that Miller has privately acknowledged needing psychological help, and declared that the congressman poses a threat to his daughter. He also said he holds his breath every single minute Miller has custody of his granddaughter. That is not the kind of cardio any grandfather should be doing.
Moreno didn't stop there. He essentially said that if elected office requires even the bare minimum of character, Miller doesn't clear the bar. He called on Miller to step down from the House and get professional treatment before he can "continue endangering others." The senator wrapped up by crediting his wife Bridget for her unwavering support and said he owes it to her, Emily, and his granddaughter to speak publicly now.
Miller and Emily Moreno tied the knot in 2022 and divorced in 2025. They share a two-year-old daughter and are currently battling over custody. Emily alleged in court documents that Miller held a firearm to her head during their marriage, shoved her into a wall causing a head injury, threw scalding water on her, and that their daughter suffered a fractured collarbone.
Miller fired back with a roughly 20-minute livestream, because nothing screams innocence like going live for a third of an hour. He said he "categorically denies" every allegation and insisted there is zero evidence. Regarding his daughter's collarbone injury, Miller stated the child was not in his care when the fracture was discovered. He also made it crystal clear that he is not dropping out of his race and plans to win in November.
Miller currently represents Ohio's 7th Congressional District and had previously received an endorsement from President Donald Trump before these allegations surfaced. The district is considered competitive heading into the 2026 midterms, which means this soap opera is only going to get messier from here.
