Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman wants everyone to know he is NOT becoming a Republican, so please stop asking. But also, don't test him, because he's got conditions. As Conservative Brief reported, the hoodie-wearing senator sat down with Meet the Press NOW to once again clarify that while he's increasingly annoyed with his own party, he's not about to cross the aisle.
Fetterman laid it out pretty simply during the interview. He told people to remember that he has been crystal clear on the matter. He pointed out that the Republican Party probably doesn't have much interest in welcoming a guy who supports abortion rights, LGBTQ communities, and federal unions. The man votes with Democrats over 90 percent of the time, folks. That's not exactly a MAGA resume.
But here's where it gets spicy. If Democrats ever make opposition to Israel an official plank in their platform, Fetterman says he'd walk. Not into the GOP's arms, mind you. He'd go Independent, like a political free agent waiting for someone to appreciate his particular skill set.
The senator's biggest beef with his party right now centers on Israel. Over 100 House Democrats recently voted to slash funding to the country, which Fetterman clearly views as a troubling trend. He noted that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries put out a letter opposing those cuts and apparently brought 30 to 40 members along with him. Fetterman essentially said that if the pro-cut crowd approaches 150 Democrats, that would be outrageous. He then asked where else in that region you can find a country protecting women, minorities, and free speech.
And because Fetterman apparently woke up choosing violence on social media this week, he fired off a post on X taunting the Democratic Socialists of America. After the Israeli Defense Forces announced they had eliminated several Hamas terrorists, including Abdallah Jahja, Mohammed Al-Hawari, and Sabhi Saqallah, Fetterman tagged the DSA and told them to cry harder. Subtle stuff from the senator.
He also went on Fox News and called DSA members deeply anti-Israel and deeply anti-America, which is the kind of bipartisan media tour that keeps everybody guessing about his loyalties. He proclaimed himself the last man standing in the Senate Democratic caucus who will unapologetically support Israel.
Meanwhile, his colleagues are side-eyeing the whole situation. One anonymous Democratic senator told NOTUS that a surprise party switch genuinely worries them. Another concern floating around is whether Fetterman could even survive a Democratic primary at this point.
So to summarize: Fetterman is a Democrat. He plans to stay a Democrat. Unless Democrats make him not want to be one anymore. In which case he'll be an Independent. But definitely, absolutely, positively not a Republican. Clear? Good. Because he's tired of explaining it.
