John Fetterman is out here doing what he does best: saying the quiet part loud while every other Democrat suddenly finds their shoelaces absolutely fascinating. After Michigan's primary on Tuesday delivered a trifecta of victories for candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, the Pennsylvania Senator basically grabbed a megaphone and screamed into the void, as USA Journal reported.
So what happened in Michigan? Oh, just a casual communist yard sale. DSA-backed Donavan McKinney narrowly knocked off incumbent Rep. Shri Thanedar in the 13th Congressional District. Abdul El-Sayed, another DSA favorite, grabbed the U.S. Senate nomination by one measly point over Rep. Haley Stevens. And William Lawrence, also preferred by the DSA, won the 7th District. Tuesday was basically Christmas morning at the DSA headquarters.
Fetterman, speaking at the Israel on Campus Coalition conference, told Fox News Digital that he would absolutely refuse to elevate a communist simply because that person has followers on Twitch, which he delightfully admitted he doesn't even understand. The man called out Hasan Piker by name, the streamer who apparently thinks Mao Zedong was onto something, carries water for Cuba's communist government, supported Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor, and spent the Michigan primary campaign cozying up to El-Sayed.
"If you align yourself with a communist who celebrates Mao and Cuba and these regimes, that concept should be completely alien to any Democrat," Fetterman said, adding that it was clearly making an impact on the party.
But wait, there's more! Fetterman also took a shot at Gavin Newsom, the guy apparently measuring drapes for a 2028 presidential campaign, for calling Israel an apartheid state. "He knows better. That's not true," Fetterman said. The sheer audacity of this man. He's just out there roasting his own team like it's a celebrity roast nobody asked for.
On El-Sayed specifically, Fetterman predicted that campaigning alongside someone who loves Hamas and proudly stands with communist regimes would eventually boomerang right back. He also characterized El-Sayed's campaign as "very arrogant," which is political speak for "this guy's ego needs its own zip code."
Here's the thing though. None of this matters to Michigan primary voters, who already made their choice. Fetterman has been sounding alarms about DSA influence for months. He's drawn lines on Israel that not a single other Senate Democrat will touch. And every time he warns against a candidate, that candidate wins anyway. It's like being a weather forecaster who keeps predicting rain while everyone's already swimming.
The real question isn't whether Fetterman is correct in his assessment. By most measures, he obviously is. The real question is whether he's the last Democrat willing to say any of this out loud, or whether there are enough people in his party who agree but are too terrified of their own base to open their mouths. Based on Tuesday's results, the party seems to be sprinting in the opposite direction while Fetterman stands there holding a "wrong way" sign that nobody bothers to read.
