FBI Put Ron Johnson Sixth on Its Russian Stooge List

The FBI built an entire operation to label Biden corruption evidence as Russian propaganda while sitting on the laptop that proved it was real.

Newly declassified ODNI documents reveal something called Operation Round River, which is basically Crossfire Hurricane's evil twin. As reported here, the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force took possession of Hunter Biden's laptop in December 2019, and just one month later "unofficially formed a group of analysts" to collect every piece of derogatory intel from confidential sources about Joe Biden, Ukraine, Burisma, and Hunter, then slap a big fat "Russian disinformation" sticker on all of it.

Let that marinate for a second. One group of FBI agents had the actual laptop. Text messages show an agent saying he couldn't fathom how anyone would call it Russian disinfo. Meanwhile, down the hall, a completely separate team was constructing an operation whose entire reason for existing was to call it Russian disinfo. That's not a bureaucratic mix up. That's two hands of the same agency playing rock paper scissors with reality.

But wait, it gets better. The task force then gave "defensive briefings" to members of Congress who were poking around the Ukraine situation. Senators Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley landed at numbers six and seven on the FBI's official list of supposed Russian propaganda "conduits." Jim Jordan grabbed the eighth spot. Three Republican lawmakers trying to investigate actual corruption got treated like unwitting Kremlin assets by the agency that had physical proof the corruption was legitimate. Then, naturally, those briefings got leaked to reporters.

The laptop sat in FBI custody for a full year before Twitter and Facebook nuked the New York Post story about it. Fifty one former intelligence officials publicly declared the whole thing was Russian handiwork. The media repeated that line straight through Election Day. All of it rested on a premise the FBI had personally debunked the moment they plugged in the hard drive.

Now there's more fun on the horizon. Reporter Paul Sperry says FBI headquarters is refusing to release a 400 page Office of Professional Responsibility report, along with roughly 7,000 pages of supporting materials, that apparently investigated the Crossfire Hurricane probe. That report is said to implicate CIA Director John Brennan and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance in the 2016 operation targeting Trump. Five Eyes, for those keeping score at home, is the intelligence sharing club made up of the U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

So to summarize the FBI's greatest hits: they collaborated with Silicon Valley to suppress inconvenient information, launched a counterintelligence operation designed to repackage real evidence as enemy propaganda, branded sitting senators as foreign influence conduits, and then leaked those branded briefings to the press. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna pointed to the declassified documents showing FBI Director Wray had multiple confidential sources regarding the Biden family and Burisma, yet chose the "nothing to see here, blame Moscow" approach.

The declassifications keep rolling out. Every new document makes the previous batch look quaint by comparison. At this rate, we're going to need a bigger filing cabinet and a much longer congressional hearing schedule.
