You know that coworker who complains about never being included in meetings but also never checks their email? That is essentially what just happened in the United States Senate, and it is somehow even more embarrassing than it sounds.
As USA Journal reported, Senator Rand Paul built what he describes as the most transparent congressional investigation in recent memory regarding Anthony Fauci. He set up a website. He uploaded documents. He organized all the compiled evidence. He gave every Democratic committee member full access, complete with a login code so they could review everything Republicans had gathered.
The number of Democrats who logged on? A big, fat, beautiful zero.
Not a single one. We are talking about an investigation into gain of function research, COVID origins, mask mandates, school shutdowns, and a pulmonary infarction that Fauci apparently suffered in private while keeping it under wraps publicly. There was even a diary suggesting the man was more interested in his own fame than in the consequences of his policy decisions. And Democrats could not be bothered to type in a password.
But here is where the comedy gets truly chef's kiss levels of absurd. Senator Gary Peters, the ranking Democrat on the committee, stood right up during the hearing and accused Paul of running a lopsided investigation that kept documents away from his party. Peters apparently tried to get tough with Paul, which went about as well as you would expect.
Paul's response was absolutely surgical. He pointed out that they literally created a website, posted everything on it, told Democrats about the access code, and not one of them ever signed up or even asked for it. They never looked. They never asked. And then they complained about being left out.
This is like refusing to open your birthday presents and then crying because nobody got you anything.
For years, questioning Fauci was treated like questioning gravity itself. Doctors and researchers who raised basic concerns saw their reputations torched. The lab leak theory was dismissed as conspiracy fuel while intelligence agencies were quietly reaching very different conclusions. Worries about whether masks actually worked were shouted down, even though Fauci privately acknowledged the supporting evidence was pretty flimsy. School closures harmed an entire generation of kids while his own emails apparently told a completely different story.
And now, with all of that evidence sitting on a website like a Netflix show just waiting to be binged, Democrats collectively chose to scroll past it. Because actually reviewing it would mean they might have to reckon with what it says. And reckoning would mean accountability, not just for Fauci, but for every senator, governor, mayor, and cable news pundit who spent years telling Americans to sit down and stop questioning the experts.
So the next time someone accuses you of hiding something from them, just remember, sometimes people do not want to find what they are pretending to look for.
