A self-described Marxist-Leninist sitting on a quarter-billion-dollar inheritance is locked up in a Spanish jail.

James "Fergie" Cox Chambers Jr., 41, was nabbed on the party island of Ibiza on July 10th after an international warrant landed courtesy of the United States government. The mega-rich activist now faces extradition back to America on explosive allegations of money laundering and funneling financial support to Hamas, according to reports. The indictment is still sealed, and Chambers insists he did nothing wrong.

So who exactly is this guy? He is the great-grandson of James M. Cox, the former Ohio governor who ran for president on the Democratic ticket in 1920 and launched the empire that evolved into Cox Enterprises. That family fortune clocks in at a staggering $27 billion. Chambers reportedly parted ways with the company in 2023 and walked away with an estimated $250 million. Cox Enterprises has not been accused of any involvement in his alleged crimes.

But here is where it gets absolutely wild. Chambers has openly called himself a "professional revolutionary" and made zero effort to hide his contempt for the country that made his family filthy rich. He once told Mother Jones that "the most important thing for the prosperity of humanity is the destruction of the US." After the October 7th, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, he called the massacre a "moment of hope and inspiration." Read that again.

His inherited fortune bankrolled communist collectives in western Massachusetts, legal and bail funds tied to "Stop Cop City" protests, anti-police organizations, and activists who went after Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems. He literally founded a group called the Berkshire Communists and built a commune before bouncing overseas.

An Interpol Red Notice reportedly lists accusations of money laundering, rioting, and conspiracy to riot, with a combined potential prison sentence reaching 30 years. The notice references $7.5 million wired to Tunisia, where Chambers had been living, along with alleged financial backing for groups in Gaza potentially connected to Hamas.

His family is pushing back hard. His wife, Stella Schnabel, claims that $7.5 million went to a Tunisian soccer club called Club Africain for player salaries, debts, and facility improvements. She says his Gaza donations funded humanitarian projects, nothing more. From his prison cell near Madrid, Chambers told El Pais, "I am a human rights defender." His legal team is calling the whole thing political retaliation aimed at punishing his activism.

Independent journalist Andy Ngo amplified the story on social media, highlighting how Chambers leveraged his massive inheritance to promote communist ideology and radical left-wing activity. Fox News confirmed through a Balearic Islands police spokesman that a U.S. citizen was indeed arrested in Ibiza under an international warrant. The FBI offered no comment.

Spain's National Court will now review the American extradition request. If judges give the green light, Spain's Cabinet gets the final vote on whether to ship Chambers back to face the music stateside. The billionaire heir who wanted to tear down America might soon find himself standing in an American courtroom.
