The project goes by the name Just Security's Reinvention Blueprints, and it reads like a love letter to big government. The entire goal? Reverse every single cut that DOGE implemented and then supersize the whole federal apparatus before the ink is even dry on a future Democratic president's executive orders.
And the people behind this aren't some random think tank nobodies. We're talking heavy hitters from Biden's inner circle. Dani Schulkin worked at DOJ and the White House Homeland Security office. K. Sabeel Rahman basically ran the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs from 2021 through 2023. Rob Shriver served as Acting OPM Director in 2024. Loren DeJonge Schulman came from OMB. These folks had their hands on the levers of power, and they clearly miss pulling them.
Rahman spilled the beans on just how ambitious this whole scheme really is. He said their goals should not be limited to simply gluing broken pieces of a vase back together. Nope. They want an entirely new vase. A bigger, shinier, more expensive vase that taxpayers get to fund.
So what exactly is on the wish list? Buckle up. They want a brand new Cabinet level agency that would consolidate all federal administrative functions, including HR, technology, and financial management, under one massive roof. They also propose revamping federal pay structures so government salaries can compete with private sector compensation. And naturally, they want to rewrite collective bargaining rights for federal workers. More bureaucrats, more centralized authority, more union protections, more taxpayer dollars flying out the door.
Far left activist Tara Dawson McGuinness, another author of the blueprint, described it as a roadmap for people who want government to function properly. But let's be honest about what that actually means in progressive speak. "Working" and "growing" are basically synonyms in that world.
Here's the part that should really grab your attention. This whole operation is being assembled right now, during August recess, while Senate Republicans are apparently on vacation instead of pushing through legislation like the SAVE America Act. The Washington establishment never sleeps, folks. It just waits for the other side to look away.
The DOGE reforms that eliminated USAID, cut duplicative programs, and stripped away unnecessary administrative layers? Democrats see those as a crisis requiring immediate reversal, not proof that leaner government actually functions.
Republicans better wake up and recognize what is being constructed behind the scenes. This is not simply about future investigations or political theater. It is a complete operational manual for rebuilding and expanding everything DOGE dismantled. The playbook is already written. The question is whether anyone on the other side is even paying attention.
