Rep. Anna Paulina Luna locked down her Republican nomination without a single challenger on Tuesday night.
The Florida congresswoman representing the 13th District walked through her primary completely unopposed, according to reports, solidifying her grip on one of the Sunshine State's most solidly conservative seats. Nobody even bothered to run against her. That tells you everything about where this district stands.
And if the unopposed primary wasn't enough of a flex, Luna has something even bigger in her back pocket. Donald Trump gave her what can only be described as a full bear hug endorsement, calling her "a true MAGA Warrior" and "an America First Patriot." Trump went on a full shopping list of praise, crediting her with fighting for border security, tax cuts, energy dominance, and Second Amendment protection. He capped it off by calling her "a very good friend, fighter, and WINNER" with his "Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election."
Local politicians are lining up behind her too. Pinellas County Commissioner Kathleen Peters gushed that Luna consistently puts her district above everything else. Fellow Commissioner Brian Scott said she "gets the job done" rather than just talking about it. State Rep. Berny Jacques went even further, labeling her "a fearless champion" for Pinellas County residents.
Luna's personal story reads like a Hollywood script. Born in California back in 1989, she grew up in a family dealing with serious hardships, including her father's battle with substance abuse. She joined the Air Force in 2009 and served until 2018 as an airfield management specialist, picking up the Air Force Achievement Medal along the way. After hanging up the uniform, she ran Hispanic outreach for Turning Point USA and led Hispanic programs at PragerU while becoming a prominent voice against human trafficking.
Here's a fun political factoid. She made history as the first Mexican American woman from Florida to win a congressional seat. She also identifies religiously as a Messianic Jewish Christian.
Her conservative credentials are basically bulletproof. Heritage Action gave her a jaw dropping 98% lifetime score. She sits on both the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Her legislative resume includes pushing the SAVE Act for election integrity, co-sponsoring the contempt effort against former AG Merrick Garland, and successfully leading the resolution that censured Rep. Adam Schiff.
But she's not just a partisan brawler. Luna has also pushed for term limits, proposed banning members of Congress from trading stocks, and advocated for proxy voting rights for new parents. That's a mix that plays well beyond the base.
Competitive Markets Action threw their endorsement behind her too, specifically praising her stance against policies that could hurt American family farmers and open the door to foreign agricultural influence.
As one of the youngest members sitting in Congress right now, Luna heads into the general election with Trump's blessing, rock solid local support, and zero bruises from a primary fight. Republicans in Florida's 13th are clearly all in.
