(Crankers) Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett shocked the populace with her bold responses about Donald Trump.

When Barrett was nominated for her position five years ago, it was widely assumed that she would be a reliable supporter of President Trump, but over the years, she has demonstrated an impressive degree of independence from both the Conservative and Liberal factions.

This has earned her criticism from her supporters and critics alike, nicknaming her a swing vote in a court that largely ideologically leaned to one side.

But it was her most recent statement that outraged Trump’s MAGA supporters. “I’m nobody’s Justice.” Said Barrett in the interview. In response to the question of what she would do if Trump called her, she simply stated, “I might wonder if he had the wrong number.”

“I’m a lawyer.” She simply states . “I’ve disagreed with all of my colleagues at different times, but that’s because I’m not trying to march in lockstep with anyone – nor is anyone else. We’re just trying to get the law right.”

Contrary to the outrage across social media platforms such as X and criticism from her peers, Barrett has placed herself not as a swing vote, but as a listener of the law. “Swing, I think, implies indecisiveness. You just kinda of blow back and forth.” Barrett said. “And that’s not how I approach the law at all.”

Barrett wishes to communicate with the public that decisions of Justices aren’t made based on ideologies, personal preferences, politics, or feelings, but on the law and the future. “It’s about the presidency,” Barrett said. “And so the decisions we make about executive power today are the same ones that will still be precedent three or four presidents from now.”
