A 26-year-old Ohio man allegedly emailed a congressman a graphic death threat involving murder, beheading, and arson, then apparently waited around to see what would happen. Spoiler: the FBI showed up. Alex Justin Miller was arrested and charged with interstate transmission of a threat to injure after allegedly sending the unhinged message to Rep. Randy Fine of Florida, as Conservative Brief reported. The message reportedly included antisemitic language, threats to set Fine's house on fire, murder his family in their sleep, and ended with a cherry on top declaring death to both Fine and President Trump.
Fine, who said the email arrived on the morning of Florida's primary Election Day, was pretty clear about his reading of the situation. "It was so graphic. It says, 'I'm gonna murder you. I'm going to cut your head off. I won't stop,'" Fine told Fox News Digital. He reported it immediately, and law enforcement tracked down the suspect within roughly 36 hours. The FBI, Brevard County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Secret Service, and Capitol Police all got involved, which is quite the welcoming committee for a guy from Ohio.
Fine pointed out that Miller wasn't even one of his Florida constituents, making this essentially the world's worst pen pal situation. The congressman now faces the reality that members of Congress might need better security, while Miller faces up to five years in federal prison. Fine's advice to the general public was refreshingly simple: "You want to call us bad people? Be my guest, but do not do this sort of thing." Imagine needing to be told that emailing beheading threats to a sitting congressman is a bad idea.
