Shoplifters learn about Prop 36 the hard way

(Crankers) California businesses have been ruined by thieves who constantly steal because they feel entitled and there was a big lack of prosecution. It was like the people in charge of prosecuting shoplifters never really did much about it, and it got so bad in certain parts of Gavin Newsom’s California that people began walking into stores with trash bags, filling them up, and walking out.

That’s all about to change and some of the recent shoplifters have learned the hard way. Prop 36 is in action and shoplifters are finally starting to be prosecuted the way they should be. For example, the repeat shoplifters in this video below certainly messed around and now they’re about to find out.

Watch the video of the shoplifters below. If you’re interested in more information about Prop 36, then scroll ahead after the video.

Proposition 36 is a California ballot measure that was passed in the 2024 general election. It allows for felony charges and increases sentences for certain drug and theft crimes. Here are some key points about Prop 36:

  • Felony Charges for Repeat Offenders: People convicted of certain drug or theft crimes can receive increased punishment, such as longer prison sentences, if they have two or more prior convictions.
  • Increased Penalties: The proposition increases penalties for repeat shoplifters and certain drug crimes.
  • Treatment Mandate: In some cases, people who possess illegal drugs may be required to complete treatment or serve up to three years in prison.
  • Support and Opposition: The proposition was supported by groups like Crime Victims United of California and the California District Attorneys Association, while opponents argued it could lead to more crime and increased prison costs.
