‘This cannot pass’ – Trump Jr and others slam CR in the face of Democrats

(Crankers) Donald Trump Jr, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elon Musk, and many others have expressed concern with the continuing resolution (CR) going on this week. Elon mentioned there’s a lot of ‘pork’ or wasted spending in the bill. MTG said she agrees with folks like Musk on the wasteful spending. And Trump Jr. took a bit of the spotlight over the provision surrounding subpoenas for House data amid the stopgap spending deal.

Trump Jr. said on X: “So the house is going to vote to protect itself from glaring and obvious wrongdoing? The American people didn’t vote for this. They voted for the opposite. They voted for transparency. This cannot pass.”

The problem people have with the subpoena provision is that it could block Congress from getting information from the House, such as emails or whatever – information that others might need if they’re investigating someone for wrongdoing.

In their eyes, it seems like people are trying to protect themselves. Some people still want an in-depth investigation into the House committee who investigated the January 6 incident at the Capitol. If they’re unable to gather the correct information, then an outcome – one way or the other – could never be found. A syndicated political article on MSN dives more into the provision:

The provision in the CR says that “upon a motion made promptly by a House office or provider for a House office, a court of competent jurisdiction shall quash or modify any legal process directed to the provider for a House office if compliance with the legal process would require the disclosure of House data of the House office.”

The stopgap measure’s text, released days before the Friday shutdown deadline, aims to push the deadline to March, giving the next Congress and incoming president more time to decide how the government should be funded for the majority of next year.

Anyone who blocks information is hiding something.

That's a given.
