(Crankers) Former First Lady Michelle Obama has candidly shared that she is undergoing therapy to support her transition into a new phase of life. In a recent appearance on Jay Shetty’s *On Purpose* podcast, Obama discussed her journey of self-discovery following decades of public service and family responsibilities.

“At this phase of my life, I’m in therapy right now because I’m transitioning,” said Obama, who is 61. “I’ve finished a really hard thing in life with my family intact. I’m an empty nester. My girls have been launched. And now, for the first time, every choice I’m making is completely mine.”

Obama emphasized that, with her daughters grown and her role as First Lady behind her, she is focusing on personal growth. She likened therapy to a “tune-up,” aiming to “unwind some old habits” and “sort through some old guilt.” She also mentioned exploring how her relationship with her mother has influenced her perspectives.

Addressing public speculation about her marriage, Obama dismissed rumors of marital strife. She noted that if there were issues, she would address them openly. Her recent absence from certain high-profile events was a deliberate choice for self-care, not indicative of personal problems, said reports .

Beyond therapy, Obama continues to engage in various projects, including writing, podcasting, and managing her media company, Higher Ground. She remains a prominent advocate for mental health, encouraging others to seek support as they navigate life transitions.

Obama’s openness about her therapeutic journey underscores the importance of self-care and personal development, inspiring many to prioritize their well-being during times of change.
