(Crankers) The Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection is now available for pre-order at Walmart, sparking debate over an item that seems to be missing. The Blu-ray collection doesn’t include Paul Feig’s 2016 reboot, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call.
Here is what the package looks to contain: The 1984 Ghostbusters film, a highly rare reprinting of Don Shay’s 1985 book Making Ghostbusters, which focuses on the production of the original film, the 1989 sequel Ghostbusters 2, 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and what appear to be two discs of bonus content.
The box looks like a proton pack and is thought to be of great value to the collectors. The question is whether the ultimate collection can truly be described as such without Feig’s movie.
Feig, on the other hand, isn’t convinced. He tweeted at Sony Pictures after seeing the news on SlashFilm, stating that this had to be a mistake. Feig emphasized that his film had its own fan base, and it was named The Best Picture at the 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards.
Fans and critics of Feig’s movie have reacted to this post, putting a focus on Ghostbusters: Answer the Call being the only one having a female protagonist. Some claim that Answer the Call was left out of the collection because it was set in a separate universe from the other three Ghostbusters films, while others believe that Feig’s film was omitted because of the all-female Ghostbusters crew.
It should be noted that a massive number of Ghostbusters fans despised the 2016 reboot as horrible and an insult to the brand, suggesting it was one of the worst movies ever made.
