(Crankers) No one saw this coming, but Matt Gaetz pulled out. Donald Trump wanted him to be the attorney general, and it seemed to be going in that direction, but Gaetz suddenly pulled out today. Gaetz said he doesn’t want to be a distraction to Donald Trump or his administration when they take the White House in January of 2025.
Gaetz has been quite an ally for Donald Trump, but for some reason no longer wants the job of being the attorney general. Gaetz said on X, “I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback – and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition. There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1. I remain fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history. I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I’m certain he will Save America.”
Trending Politics reported on the potential reason Matt Gaetz pulled out of the consideration for attorney general. The political news report said: “Gaetz’s statement hinted at the political friction, though he framed his decision as being in service of the broader Trump agenda. “Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1,” he said. “I remain fully committed to seeing that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history.” As the Trump/Vance team works to fill key cabinet positions, speculation is swirling about who might replace Gaetz as the nominee for Attorney General.”
One thing to keep an eye on is Matt Gaetz position with Congress. He was reelected to his position this month, but then he resigned from Congress to focus on his future as attorney general.
