(Crankers) According to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, more than 150,000+ Americans have applied to work at ICE in response to the Trump administration’s escalated crackdown on illegal immigration. Over 18,000+ of the applicants received tentative job offers.
This recruitment surge follows the Congress’s decision to allocate $75 billion to strengthen the ICE budget. These funds are mainly focused on arrest and deportation efforts and on expanding detention capacity. The whopping number of applicants is no surprise, as ICE offers signing bonuses up to $50,000, six-figure pay packages for certain roles, student loan forgiveness, enhanced retirement benefits, and ample overtime.
Particularly focused on hiring former federal law enforcement officers, ICE introduced a major change: certain positions no longer have age caps, expanding eligibility for applicants who were previously excluded by age limits.
At the same time, operations against “criminal illegal aliens” are being stepped up, especially in sanctuary cities. Programs like Operation Midway Blitz are running in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C. These programs aim to detain and remove non-citizens believed to have criminal convictions and present a great danger to homeland security.
