Houston, we have a problem. Massive thunderstorms are sweeping through Houston and videos on social media make it look like scenes from an apocalypse movie. Except, this is real life and Mother Nature is showing signs of her powers. In fact, it's so brutal over there in Houston that several people have died in the thunderstorms due to high winds knocking over trees, blowing out windows, and in one case – knocking over a crane that fell on top of someone. Thousands have lost power and the damages were racking up as the severe thunderstorms swept through Houston. Collin Rugg reported on X :

Apocalyptic scenes out of Houston, Texas as severe thunderstorms sweep through the city, demolishing buildings in the downtown area.

80 mph winds blew out windows in downtown Houston and knocked out power for 1 million residents.

Four people have reportedly been killed by the storm including a mother and her newborn.

Two people were killed by falling trees and a third person was killed by a falling crane.

The mother was concerned about a tree’s stability so she went to move her car when the tree fell and pinned her down.

A 73-year-old man was working in a cement truck when a crane fell on top of him.

NBC News also reported on the severe thunderstorms, saying the following in their weather story:

The winds — which reached 100 mph — were reminiscent of 2008’s Hurricane Ike, one of the costliest natural disasters in American history, Houston Mayor John Whitmire said in a briefing Thursday. A widespread 3 to 6 inches of rain fell north of Houston, with one of the highest totals reaching around 6.9 inches in 24 hours near Romayor. The storm also battered New Orleans overnight, with severe thunderstorms and flooding possible again Friday, according to the local branch of the National Weather Service.
