(Crankers) Chris Wallace is leaving Fox News after 18 years and going to CNN+. He announced this on Sunday at the end of his show, saying the following: “After 18 years – this is my final ‘Fox News Sunday… It is the last time – and I say this with real sadness – we will meet like this.”

Fox News Media also made a statement, saying: “We are extremely proud of our journalism and the stellar team that Chris Wallace was a part of for 18 years… The legacy of ‘Fox News Sunday’ will continue with our star journalists, many of whom will rotate in the position until a permanent host is named.”

Many may wonder why he’s going to CNN+ amid a battle for viewers and ratings between two giants like Fox News and CNN, but Wallace, who’s been in the industry for more than 50 years, said he wants to try something new beyond the reach of politics.

Specifically, Wallace stated: “I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I’m interested in. I’m ready for a new adventure. And I hope you’ll check it out.”

CNN+ is a streaming service that should be launching sometime in 2022.

Wallace said he’s thrilled to join CNN+ after all this time in cable news and broadcasting. He also said “I am excited to explore the world of streaming. I look forward to the new freedom and flexibility streaming affords in interviewing new ways to tell stories.”
