(Crankers) Savvy 4chan users are allegedly reserving flights from India to the United States in hopes to prevent people from abusing the H-1B visa situation and arriving in the country before the deadline.
X user Callum reported on this with a screenshot from 4chan showing a flight in the shopping cart on reserve, possibly preventing someone else from buying the ticket at the time. His post said: “4chan is reserving flight tickets from India to the US in the checkout stage so no H-1B can use them to get to the US before the deadline.”
Callum posted an update about one of the 4chan users who made a big reserved purchase: “Frogposter has single handedly spiked the price by confusing the computer system to $6k for a flight”
What is an H-1B Visa?
An H-1B visa is a U.S. temporary (nonimmigrant) visa that allows U.S. employers to hire highly skilled foreign professionals to work in “specialty occupations,” which require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a specific field like engineering or technology. The visa is initially granted for up to three years and can be extended to a maximum of six years. The annual number of H-1B visas is limited by a congressionally set annual cap, with a separate exemption for U.S. advanced degree holders.
