(Crankers) Kamala Harris and the few people who actually support her are getting more bad news this week as another major news publisher has REFUSED to endorse her. This time it’s the Washington Post. Last week it was USA Today and LA Times.
This is a huge blow to Kamala Harris and her campaign that seems to be sinking faster than the OceanGate sub. William Lewis, chief executive officer and publisher of The Washington Post made a statement about the non-endorsement, saying the following:
“Our job at The Washington Post is to provide through the newsroom nonpartisan news for all Americans, and thought-provoking, reported views from our opinion team to help our readers make up their own minds. Most of all, our job as the newspaper of the capital city of the most important country in the world is to be independent. And that is what we are and will be.”
To be clearer, the three major news publishers have not endorsed any candidate at all. And to be honest, no newspaper should ever endorse a candidate in the first place. If they do, then that means they’re not an honest or neutral representation of the news. A true journalist will never show their bias, like I do. They will remain neutral, endorse no one, endorse nothing, and simply state the facts.
Part of the big reason that the entire planet has lost trust in the media is because so many outlets are chasing clicks and turning into left or right outrage machines. And you know what, most people just want the news and to know what happened – then they can form their own opinion instead of being told what to think.
Non-endorsements have sparked a few editors to resign from their job. If you want to talk about Trump Derangement Syndrome, then there it is. As an editor of a major news publication, your job is to shut up and edit. Your job is not to be a bootlicker for one candidate or the other. And to see these people quit their job because their company decides to make NO endorsement, well then that just means they’re not an honest journalist and their resignation is probably better for everyone. “The Washington Post will not be making an endorsement of a presidential candidate in this election. Nor in any future presidential election. We are returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates,” Lewis wrote in a note published on the newspaper’s website.
The decision follows a move by Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong to block that newspaper’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, which has sparked the resignation of the editorials editor, Mariel Garza, followed by the resignations of two other members of its editorial board.
Both Soon-Shiong and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos are billionaires who made their fortunes outside the media industry.
