The original incident occurred at LoanDepot Park during a Miami Marlins game when Harrison Bader hit a home run. A father caught the ball and was seen giving it to his 10-year-old son. A woman, later identified as the “Phillies Karen,” then confronted the father, demanding the ball back claiming it was hers. The interaction was captured on camera and quickly went viral across social media, leading to widespread criticism of the woman.
During their Petco Park debut, the Savannah Bananas recreated the incident on the big screen for the 40,000 fans in attendance. An actor dressed as the Grinch played the role of the “Phillies Karen” who snatched the ball. A Bananas player tossed a ball into the stands, and a fan allowed it to fall. The Bananas’ Dad Bod Cheerleading Squad then acted as the father and son. The crowd responded with laughter, and the video of the reenactment also went viral.
