(Crankers) Looks like we have two Trump-hating politicians facing instant karma this week.

First Ruben Gallego was accused of mortgage fraud months ago and that resurfaced. Now, Mr. Morals himself, Republican Indiana Senator Michael Bohacek’s incident with the police is in the limelight.

Indiana State Senator Mike Bohacek, a Republican representing District 8, has formally accepted a plea deal in a misdemeanor DUI case that stemmed from an incident earlier this year. The agreement was finalized back on August 28, but the story is making waves now tha Gallego is running his little mouth.

The case dates back to January 24, 2025, when a citizen called police after allegedly seeing Bohacek drinking from an open container and stumbling out of his vehicle in a Michigan City restaurant parking lot.

Officers later located his vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. A blood-alcohol test reportedly showed Bohacek had a 0.28% BAC, more than three times the legal limit in Indiana.

Bohacek was not immediately arrested at the time due to legislative immunity, a constitutional protection that prevents lawmakers from being taken into custody while the legislature is in session except for certain serious crimes.

Even after prosecutors filed charges on May 15, 2025, the case remained sealed for months. During that time, Bohacek continued serving in the Senate and maintained limited driving privileges under an alcohol-monitoring requirement.

The plea deal resolves the case with Bohacek pleading guilty to operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dismissed two additional charges: operating a vehicle while intoxicated in a manner that endangered another person, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Under the sentence, Bohacek received a 365-day suspended jail term, meaning he will not serve time behind bars if he completes the conditions of the agreement. He will instead serve 365 days of informal probation, pay several hundred dollars in fines and court fees, and complete a substance-abuse evaluation as well as required counseling through a county treatment program. The court also issued a 20-day driver’s license suspension.

Bohacek has served in the Indiana Senate since 2016 and represents portions of LaPorte, St. Joseph, and Starke counties. Neither he nor his office issued an extensive public statement at the time of the plea, though the case has drawn attention because it involved a sitting lawmaker and because the charges were kept sealed for weeks after being filed.

With the plea deal now finalized, the case is considered resolved, but the incident leaves Bohacek with a misdemeanor conviction and ongoing probation obligations, and it may continue to raise questions among constituents as the next legislative session approaches.
