Hosts on ‘The View’ were sent a cease and desist letter from a conservative group after hosts made defamatory statements this week about Turning Point USA, suggesting they were linked to neo-nazi protesters outside of a Florida event. The Turning Point group is not linked to them and opposes their beliefs, therefore they sent a cease and desist letter to ‘The View’ implying legal actions might take place if the statements were not retracted. Whoopi Goldberg made the comments that triggered the cease and desist letter, but another host made the apology.
WATCH THE APOLOGY VIDEO:
The letter suggested that ‘The View‘ had until Wednesday, today, to release the statement/apology or face legal actions. This situation is why #SueTheView was trending on Twitter, with conservatives up in arms over the suggestion they were linked to the neo-nazis, which they are not.
Fox News reminded people that “the ABC News program addressed the comments early in the first episode after network executives received the letter.”
Co-host Sara Haines, whoever that is, said the following: “On Monday we talked about the fact that there were openly neo-Nazi demonstrators outside the Florida Student Action Summit of the Turning Point USA group. We want to make clear that these demonstrators were gathered outside the event and that they were not invited or endorsed by Turning Point USA… A Turning Point USA spokesman said the group ‘100 percent condemns those ideologies’ and said Turning Point USA security tried to remove the neo-Nazis from the area but could not because they were on public property… Also, Turning Point USA wanted us to clarify that this was a Turning Point USA Summit, and not a Republican Party event. So, we apologize for anything we said that may have been unclear on these points.”
However, Turning Point USA pointed out that Whoopi Goldberg was the one who made the defamatory statements and she should be the one issuing the apology, not Sara Haines or anyone else.
This isn’t the first time Whoopi Goldberg has said bad things. Whoopi Goldberg suggested that Jill Biden be the next surgeon general. Whoopi was told that Jill Biden was actually a teacher at that time and Goldberg then understood her obvious mistake. Biden has a doctorate in education.
Another time Whoopi Goldberg was criticized as being unhinged when she suggested that the Supreme Court’s next move might be to break up Clarence Thomas’ marriage to a white woman and considering him a ‘quarter of a person’ – a reference to bringing back slavery. This took place while the hosts discussed the Supreme Court’s recent overturn of Roe v. Wade.
Goldberg said: “I want to make things very clear. I’m very pro-life. I’ve never been anti-life… I want people to have the lives they want, but I don’t want to force anybody—I don’t want anybody coming in my house telling me how to raise my daughter and what she needs because they don’t know.”
She continued: “And I appreciate everybody’s religion, but I do not subscribe to your religion. I don’t ask you to subscribe to mine. And you do not have the right based on your religious beliefs to tell me because what’s next? As Clarence Thomas is signaling, they would like to get rid of contraception. Do you understand, sir? No, because you don’t have to use it!”
