Rep. Thomas Massie has questions about the $117 million Congress spent on some very questionable reasons. And in many cases, the people involved don’t want you to know about this. Probably because some of these issues are so bad that if your family member did it – then you probably wouldn’t invite them over for dinner anymore.
Reports on the Internet are going around suggesting that Congress spent $117 million on hush money, but we should clear that up first. It wasn’t all hush money; it was other things too. The $17 million figure often mentioned in relation to Congress isn’t specifically for “hush money” for sexual harassment claims. Instead, it represents the total amount paid out over 20 years for various workplace violations, including sexual harassment, discrimination, and other claims. The settlements were made through the Office of Compliance, which handles these types of cases for congressional employees.
So basically, there was a lot more going on than just sexual harassment. That’s one great government, isn’t it? Anyway, Thomas Massie wants to know WHO committed those awful acts – and Massie wants you to know too.
